FAQs
1. GENERAL
Do you offer a Customisation Service?
The products on this website are just the tip of the iceberg. We offer the ability to customise a vast majority of our units and also undertake bespoke projects from initial concept through to design and manufacture for real wood and metal based products. We will provide quotations prior to manufacture. Please Contact us for details.
What is your lead time?
90% of our orders are manufactured and shipped within 2 weeks. Some custom products and larger projects may take longer. In general we consider quality, not time, to be of the essence. However if you have an urgent requirement please Contact us as we can usually accommodate.
During the Christmas and Easter periods, our lead time may be extended.
Regarding delivery, the lead time depends on the item and delivery address. Following collection from our workshop, it can vary from 1 to 5 working days for mainland UK, and up to 2 to 4 weeks for off-shore addresses.
Can my TV unit be wall mounted?
Theoretically yes. All our TV units are of solid construction with a solid back panel and can be fixed to a wall through this back panel after spacing out the small recess.
However we do not offer any fixings for this and advise that the TV unit be installed by a competent professional tradesperson who can assess and supply the correct fixings for the type of wall it is to be mounted on.
How accurate are the dimensions stated on the website?
We are confident that our measurements are accurate but we do work to a tolerance of +/- 2mm.
Do you have an environmental policy?
We only source our timber materials from environmentally friendly, sustainably managed forests certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). We source our pine from Finland which has a world class reputation for forest stewardship.
We are committed to constantly reducing our impact on the environment. We use local suppliers where possible and make and deliver within the UK. Our short supply chain results in a lower carbon footprint.
Do you have a showroom?
We don’t have a showroom but if you’d like to visit our Chichester workshop to see some pieces in person, we’ll be delighted to meet you. The photos on our website are good, but our furniture looks much more impressive in real life!
Please Contact us to arrange a visit. We make all our furniture to order and ship them right away so we don't usually have many finished pieces to see. However, by arranging an appointment beforehand, we can hold some pieces back and pull together some samples of the finish and show you the wood etc
Plus it’s an opportunity to chat to a member of the team face to face!

3. ALL BLUE ISLAND HOME FURNITURE
What are the finishes and how are they applied?
In our pine range, we have 4 different choices of finish: Walnut, Victorian Oak, Jacobean and Black. The finishes for the oak range are Natural Oak and Dark Oak. These colours, other than Natural Oak, are the names of our stain finish options, which are expertly applied by our own furniture finishing technicians.
All our solid oak and pine furniture are finished with a with a 20% sheen lacquer for protection, which gives a subtle satin-matte finish (not glossy).
This two-part stain and lacquer processes provide highly durable and light fast finishes which require very little maintenance.
Please take a look at our Materials & Finishes page for more details.
Can you send a sample of the wood finish?
Yes, we offer the first two samples free of charge. If additional samples are required, then there is a small charge which varies depending on where we're sending the samples and quantity. However this will be deducted should you proceed to order.
To request a sample(s), please Contact us with your preferred wood finish(es) and full address and we’ll advise you on postage costs.
Our samples will give you an idea of the colour, feel and finish of your furniture.
Alternatively If you'd like to see more pictures of each of the wood colours, please let us know and we will email you some customer photos to help you visualise.
Can you offer other wood colour and finish?
Yes, we work with Morrell’s Light Fast stains and they have a range of shades available but the tones in the woods mean the results vary from their sample swatch sheet.
Here are the links to their swatch sheets:

Please note we don’t stock these stains so we will need to get them in specifically for your sample(s) which will incur a charge. Please Contact us for further information.
Regarding the finish, we use Morrell’s 20% sheen lacquer for protection, which gives a subtle satin-matte finish (not glossy). However we can offer a more matt finish by using Morrell’s 5% sheen lacquer which is their lowest sheen available.
Can you colour match my existing furniture/flooring?
Whilst we don’t offer a colour matching service, you can order some sample so you can check against your existing furniture to see if it is complementary.
Can you send unfinished pieces so that I can apply my own finish?
We can send unfinished pieces (ie in raw pine or oak) if you prefer to apply your own finish. However we do not provide guarantees for any piece that gets sent this way as we do not know how your chosen finish will take to the timber or if the wood will receive environmental damage before it is stained, eg heat, cold, damp, etc.
