Materials & Finishes

We use solid oak and pine to create our furniture but can also source and work with other types of wood. We have a range of wood stains and metal finishes that we use regularly but have access to a variety of different colours and sheens. Below are our standard materials and finishes, if you would like something else, please contact us.

All Wood

Origin & Sustainability

We only source our timber materials from environmentally friendly, sustainably managed forests certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC)

We source our solid pine from Finland which has a world class reputation for forest stewardship.

We are committed to constantly reducing our impact on the environment. We use local suppliers where possible and make and deliver within the UK. Our short supply chain results in a lower carbon footprint.

Our wood is hand-sanded and hand finished to produce a highly tactile polish finish. We use industry leading light-fast stains for their depth and richness of colour and finish with a satin-matte clear lacquer for hardwearing lasting protection for years of use.

Real wood can be more sensitive to its environment. We recommend keeping furniture in normal indoor temperature and humidity conditions. Excessive heat, cold or humidity will put pressure on the timbers potentially resulting in damage in the long term. If you are ordering for a space where this needs consideration (i.e. air conditioned rooms or warmer climates) please contact us.

Our durable finish does not require re-application and requires very little ongoing maintenance. A damp cloth for spills and regular care and clean should keep your new furniture looking great for years to come.

Smooth, hand-finished grade-AB solid European oak. A hardwearing clear lacquer preserves the beauty of the natural features like medullary rays and subtle fleck.

Oak can also be stained.

Pine & Stain Options

Our furniture grade solid Scandinavian redwood pine is professionally jointed and beautifully hand crafted to retain the natural rustic features including original knots, grain and distressed features.

Every piece is unique and reflects a rustic finishing style. Available in a variety of stain colours and finished with a durable satin-matte clear lacquer.

A medium brown with warm undertones of burnt orange combined with smoky dark browns along the grain and around the knots.

A darker charred brown with maroon undertones and cooling purple hues.

Victorian Oak

A medium/ light honey coloured finish with natural dusky accents around the grain and knots.

Our latest addition to our classic wood stains, providing excellent grain definition and depth of black colour.

We use bright mild steel combined with industrial powder coating for maximum durability and protection against rust. Metalwork is available as standard in a bare steel (clear-coated) and satin-matt black powder coating. For other colours please contact us for a quote.

Bare Steel (clear-coated)

The bare steel finish will show signs of metalworking such as welding and cutting, sometimes small rust markings are also visible. These features are locked in time and preserved during a clear-coating process.

Black Powder Coated

A durable satin-matt black powder coating is available for all metalwork.
